I trust AR Rahman with my life, love him: Saira in new statement after separation

Music composer AR Rahman’s estranged wife, Saira Banu, released a fresh statement to the media, asking everyone to stop ‘tarnishing’ his name. The statement came five days after the couple announced their separation on social media, and requested privacy.
In the statement, Saira expressed her love for Rahman, and asked YouTubers and the media to refrain from hurting him and their family. She also talked about her health, and mentioned that she has been living in Mumbai for a few months and undergoing treatment.
She released an audio statement on Sunday and said, “This is Saira Rahman here. I am currently in Bombay. I have been here for the last couple of months. That’s the reason I wanted to take a break from AR. But, I would request the YouTubers and media not to say anything bad against him. He is a gem of a person, the best man in the world. It’s just because of my health issues that I have not been in Chennai. I knew if I was not in Chennai, people would wonder where Saira was. I am going through treatment. This wouldn’t have been possible with AR’s busy schedule in Chennai (sic).”
Saira called her estranged husband ‘the best man in the world’ and requested privacy for both of them in this difficult time. He shared that Rahman and she are in love and their decision is 100 per cent mutual. “He’s an amazing human being. All I would request is to let him be the way he is. I trust him with my life. That’s how much I love him, and that’s how he does. I request you all to stop speculating. God bless! And my sincere prayers that we are left alone and given space at this moment. We are not announcing anything officially yet. You need to stop tarnishing his name. This is absolutely rubbish (sic),” she concluded the statement.
Earlier, Saira released a statement via her lawyer on Tuesday, November 19, announcing that she and Rahman had ended their marriage of 29 years. The statement read, “After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband, Mr AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time.”
The Oscar-winning music composer shared another statement the next day, confirming the news of the separation, and wrote on X, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again (sic).”
On Saturday, Rahman shared a legal notice threatening those slandering him and his family, speculating about the reason behind their separation. He warned YouTubers, online portals and other media channels to not ‘hurt’ his family and avoid speculation about his relationship.
Rahman and Saira got married in 1995, and are parents to three children- Khatija, Raheema and Ameen.
